GENERAL MOTORS
GP 7

Museum Of Transportation, Roanoke, VA; May 1997.
One of the purest GP7 out there is safe in retirement.

Jacksonville, Fl; February 1998.
Another lucky number is being well taken care of by the Jacksonville Chapter of NHRS as demonstrated by the shiny paint job.

Holly Springs, MS; November 1998.
SOU 8274 was not so lucky, as it got gutted for replacement parts by the local short line.

Monroeville, Al; August 1998.
Natchez Trace 8281, similar to 8274, was still operating on the beat-up Alabama Railroad to Flomaton.

Kansas City, Mo; July 2000.
Proven Y2K compatible and healthy on a major railroad...after a few modifications including a spartan cab and an AC unit.

Dillsboro, Nc; July 1999.
Some GP7s have found their way to excursion services. 711 is on the Great Smokey Mountains Railroad.

Magnolia, Ar; December 1998.
A couple of days after the Christmas break and after the mainline was cleared up from the ice storm, L&NW 53 is back at work. The late nineties were the last years in service on short lines for a lot of GP 7s.

ADM plant, Ama, La; March 1998.
GP 7s also do some industrial switching.

Brunswick, Ga; May 1999.
End of the line for 8239 which might be a Southern number. The gutting has started: first the bell, then the fuel tank...
