Q602 is coming out of the Tallahassee yard with no less than 11000
ft. The dispatcher's comment: oooooh, but this is illegal!!!!!! That was
not funny for the crew who had to sit for 2 hours for Q101 and Q105 to
go through. The next siding that can accomodate that kind of train is Madison.
Leased power frenzy was in full swing by then; HLCX 6090 has the assignment.
Midway, Fl; December 1999. Q602
With barely enough light to shoot, this Q602 rushes past the Midway
siding and is heading for the GF&A junction.
Tallahassee, Fl; January 2000. Q606.
Q606 just picked up cars from the Tallahassee yard. The lumber came
from Georgia Pacific plant in Greenville with the local M742. The 2 leading
covered hoppers came from a fertilizer distributor in Live Oak and are
going back to the Bone Valley for a refill. Also present in this consist
are some grain hoppers from the Gold Kist elevator in Live Oak.
Tallahassee, Fl; February 2000. Q605
Q605 is sent through the bypass of the yard. The colorful consist has
CSX 9506 maintenance of way dead in tow. The engine will be dropped off
on the P&A sub and later will pull a maintenance of way train back
to Jacksonville.
Tallahassee, Fl; March 2000. WB freight.
Q601 is climbing the hill on the East side of the Magnolia overpass
visible in the background . Today, it is another full UP/SP consist pulling
the freight with the SP in the lead just to make UP officials mad when
they get the train in New Orleans...
Greenville, Fl; March 2000. Q602 NASA/Q105.
Q602 meets Q105 in Greenville Fl. The freight has the NASA cars heading
to Titusville.
Tallahassee, Fl; April 2000. Q609 just started.
The new addition to the eastbound freight trains through Tallahassee
is Q609. The train was added in March 2000 to handle the increase in traffic.
Two of the first 3 trains had military equipment. What a surprise! another
UP/SP consist....
