South Central Georgia: June 2003. Dawson-Richland & Shellman Dawson to Richland: GSWR (Former Central Of Georgia) I could not get close to the diamond with the Central
Of Georgia still used by GSWR (Smithville-Georgetown). On the GSWR, I found this structure used by Georgia
& Alabama, the official name of the operator of the line. Shellman, Ga; GSWR (Former Central Of Geogia) Renovated depot. I thought I had seen it all in Shelbiana CSX yard
when I saw a front loader being used to push cars into a spur when Dash
8s and 9s were parked just a few feet away in the ready track for coal
trains. Here a tractor is used to move cars under the spigot. Who needs
locomotives? Dawson to Richland: Seaboard Air Line. I could not locate any of the track or roadbed except
around Kimbrough where the junction with the line from Cuthbert is visible
through Kimbrough. On the north side of town, the road bed is clearly visible
until it diverges from the main road. Along the way, only one depot is
left in Parrot.
