Georgia & Florida Ry; Other finds of the day. Ray City, GA. The old line seems to be active up to a new but dormant rock yard a
few miles north of Valdosta. Then, it seems to be there but inactive until
north of Nashville. Past that point, the roadbed is covered with weeds.
Another ex-SOU caboose?
Nashville, Ga.Georgia & Florida Ry Junction to downtown. Were southbound trains stopping downtown running
backward to the mainline?
It is still possible to follow where the spur into downtown used to
be.
Willacoochee, Ga. Depot has been moved away from the old mainline. A property south of
the diamond, now covered in weeds seem to have been the site of a yard.
Douglas, Ga. The depot was renovated and is now housing a museum.
The museum has a nice collection of railroad photos and artifacts.
It kept me busy for close to an hour. Well worth a donation.
Photographer unknown: Photo part of the collection of the museum in
the Douglas depot.
